Ghio and Spanu Clinch 2025 Wingfoil Racing World Cup in Morocco

Dakhla: Mathis Ghio of France and Italy’s Maddalena Spanu emerged victorious at the 2025 Wingfoil Racing World Cup opener held in Dakhla, Morocco. Ghio, a three-time champion, displayed resilience by overcoming an initial setback to secure the win.

Despite a fall in the first race, Ghio managed to narrowly defeat Poland’s Emilia Kosti and Italy’s Francesco Cappuzzo. His performance sets an exciting tone for the ongoing 2025 series.

In the women’s division, Maddalena Spanu, who finished as the silver medalist in the 2024 series, dominated the competition by winning every race. Greece’s Emilia Kosti secured second place after recovering from a fall, while France’s Anais Mai Desjardins took the third spot.

Dakhla’s consistent winds provided an ideal setting for Wingfoil Racing’s African debut. The event marked the beginning of a series poised to continue in Silvaplana, Switzerland, known for its favorable mountain breezes.
