Karachi: General Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff, visited the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2024) at the Karachi Expo Centre. During his visit, he acknowledged the active participation of defense manufacturers from friendly nations and observed a notable display of arms and equipment by both domestic and international exhibitors. The event features a total of 557 exhibitors, including 333 international and 224 domestic participants, with 36 countries represented, 17 of which are new to the exhibition.
According to Inter Services Public Relations, over 300 foreign delegates from 53 countries attended the event, expressing confidence in both the exhibition and Pakistan’s defense industry. General Munir engaged in discussions with foreign military officials and defense delegates present at the exhibition.
A key moment of the event was the unveiling of the Shahpar-III, an advanced combat Unmanned Aerial Vehicle developed by Global Industrial Defence Solutions Pakistan. This UAV is designed with an operational ceiling of 35,000 feet and an endurance of more than 24 hours, capable of carrying various munitions, such as bombs, missiles, and torpedoes.
The 12th edition of IDEAS commenced on November 19 and will conclude on November 22, 2024. Upon his arrival in Karachi, General Munir was received by Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar, Corps Commander Karachi.
