ISLAMABAD: International Day of Parliamentarism was commemorated on Monday, marking the anniversary of the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s (IPU) founding in 1889.
The observance focused on the campaign theme, ‘Achieving Gender Equality, Action by Action,’ emphasizing the need for concrete measures to promote gender equality within parliamentary systems globally.
The IPU, which serves as a hub for global parliamentary dialogue, encouraged member parliaments to take deliberate actions towards enhancing gender representation and equality in their legislative processes.
This year’s focus aims to address the disparities that persist in political representation and to foster environments where gender equality can thrive, reflecting the ongoing efforts to create more inclusive governance structures worldwide.
