Ganderbal Residents Protest Against Rising Electricity Tariffs in IIOJK

Srinagar, In Ganderbal district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a protest erupted over the authorities’ policies perceived as detrimental to the populace, specifically concerning a significant hike in electricity tariffs. The demonstration, organized by the residents of Tulmullah, voiced a collective grievance against what they describe as unjustified increases in their monthly electricity bills by the Power Development Department (PDD).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the protestors criticized the reliability of the electricity supply and condemned the sudden spike in charges. They highlighted the discrepancy between their modest incomes and the exorbitant rates now demanded for domestic electricity use. With frustration mounting, the community members have threatened to cease payment of their electricity bills and called for the discontinuation of electricity services to their area if the policy remains unchanged.

The demonstrators’ stark warning underscores a readiness to revert to living without electrical power, a condition they claim to have previously endured, rather than succumb to what they consider exploitative billing practices by the PDD.
