G-20 meeting has no relevance for Kashmir: APHC-AJK leaders

Islamabad, April 12, 2023 (PPI-OT):The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter leaders have said that India is trying to hoodwink the world community, particularly the G-20 members, by portraying that all is well in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. APHC-AJK leader, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, in a statement issued in Islamabad said, it has always been noted and acknowledged by members of the world body that Kashmir is a disputed territory and its future has remained unsettled since 1947. He said thousands of people of Jammu and Kashmir have been martyred and thousands of others put behind bars during the last 34 years for rising peacefully against India’s terror, tyranny and atrocities in the occupied territory. So, he said, there is no sense in calling an international meeting in the occupied territory.

He appealed to the UN to take cognizance of the threatening situation of Kashmir and implement its relevant resolutions to give relief to the oppressed people of IIOJK. At the same time, he urged the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir to call a conference on the latest developments, especially the G-20 meeting called by India in Srinagar, which is in total violation of the international resolutions as Kashmir is an internationally-recognized disputed territory. APHC-AJK General Secretary, Shaikh Abdul Mateen, in his statement in Islamabad said since revoking the special status of IIOJK, the Indian fascist government led by Narendra Modi wants to paddle its false propaganda of normalcy narrative. He said, the Indian authorities have used all its military might to suppress the Kashmiris’ just freedom struggle. He pointed out that by holding the G20 meeting in Srinagar, they want to show the silence of the graveyard as “normalcy” in the occupied territory. Fascist Modi regime is trying to distort the truth and twist facts to hoodwink the world into believing as if everything is normal in the occupied territory, he added.

Sheikh Mateen drew the attention of the G-20 countries towards killings, arrests, confiscating of properties of common masses and bulldozing of houses by Indian troops in the territory on a daily basis and said these brutal actions are enough to say no to the G-20 summit in Srinagar. Other APHC-AJK leaders including Shamim Shawl, Syed Aijaz Rehmani, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Manzoor Ahmed Dar, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob and Zahid Ashraf in their statements in Islamabad appealed to the G20 members to boycott the meeting of the group to be hosted by India in IIOJK. They maintained that such events cannot be organized in Jammu and Kashmir, which is an internationally recognized disputed territory.
