Islamabad, June 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Ex-Convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter، Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, has appealed to the G-20 countries to read real intentions of India in her motive to call G-20 summit in the occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement issued in Islamabad asked the rationale behind holding the G-20 meeting in the territory, which is facing horrible human rights situation due to the war of terror unleashed by India against its inhabitants after depriving it of its statehood in 2019.
In this background, it’s to be recalled that India will resume the presidency of G-20 counties for next year and Kashmir were to be picked as one of the venues then would be the first time that the disputed and turbulent region would be hosting an international event since Delhi revoked its unique historical status in 2019, he added.
“Although, it has not been finalised but the news item has created stirs across Jammu and Kashmir, where India’s Hindutva racists government has changed many important laws to degrade the status of the majority Muslim population for overturning ethnic status of centuries.”
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said, “Doors have been opened and hundreds of thousands non- state Indian Hindus have been granted domiciles to enable them to live in the disputed territory, acquire land rights, purchase immovable property, obtain education scholarships and government or semi-government services.
He said local residents have been terminated of their services, and government offices have been given under the control of outsiders. The press and platform has been occupied by the ruling Hindu nationalist BJP and no day starts without arresting, killing, prosecuting and indictments of the Kashmiri youth.
The authorities don’t tolerate a dose of sunshine or free air to the people in general and public leaders in particular.
Recently, a top Kashmiri leader Muhammad Yasin Malik was sentenced to lifer on flimsy grounds and more Kashmiri leaders are to be awarded life sentences till death for their struggle for freedom and right of self-determination.
“Thousands of Kashmiris from every walk of life have been put behind bars and the repressive policies continue throughout the region. In short, the state of India practices and sponsors inhuman laws to transform the entire occupied region into a jungle where according to them beasts live and therefore must be eliminated.”
Under these circumstances, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that the region was not suitable for an international event and the G-20 countries, who were aware of the horrific conditions of Kashmir, should tell India to abandon the idea of organising the event there.
Instead, the G-20 should urge India to improve its human rights record in J and K and take necessary measures to facilitate a peaceful solution of the dispute in accordance with the UNSC resolutions. Therefore, he emphasized, it is far better for the G-20 to help in resolving the Kashmir dispute than to accept international event in our bleeding Jammu and Kashmir.
He feared that the only Muslim majority Jammu and Kashmir under illegal and forcible occupation of Hindutva India was undergoing big demographic changes as willed by India against guarantees of the UN Charter. Hence, India must not be permitted to continue her illegal campaign under the garb of any international event in the suppressed and dismembered state, he concluded.
