Funeral of Young Victim of Cross-Border Aggression Draws Top Pakistani Leaders


ISLAMABAD: The funeral prayer for seven-year-old Irtaza Abbas Turi, son of Lieutenant Colonel Zaheer Abbas Turi, took place in Islamabad. The young boy was killed in Dawarandi, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, due to what has been described as unprovoked Indian cross-border aggression.



The ceremony saw the attendance of key figures including the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. Other attendees included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister, and military leaders such as General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, and Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Naval Staff. Senior serving and retired military officers, government officials, and relatives of the deceased were also present.



In a statement following the funeral prayers, the Prime Minister condemned the actions by Indian forces. He described the targeting of civilians as a serious act of cowardice and a significant threat to regional and global stability.



Both the President and the Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces are actively opposing Indian forces on all fronts. They assured that any violations of international law and humanitarian norms would face strong retaliation.



In their prayers, the President and the Prime Minister sought peace for the victims of the aggression and strength for their families to endure the loss.
