Fresh Snowfall in Parts of Kashmir and Ladakh, Rains Drench Plains

Srinagar, 16 Oct 2023: Regions of Kashmir Valley and Ladakh experienced fresh snowfall, with rain showers observed in the plains, leading to a notable temperature drop on Monday. The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar forecasts light to moderate rain or snow over the higher areas in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Reports from the Met office indicate that light rain or snow is expected in specific areas, with weather improvements anticipated from October 18.

Notable locations such as Gurez in Bandipora and Peer Ki Gali saw snowfall, with the Bandipora-Gurez Road shut due to the weather conditions. Meanwhile, areas in the Ladakh Union Territory, including Drass, Leh, Kargil, and Sanku, witnessed their first snowfall of the season. An advisory has been issued to farmers to delay crop harvesting until October 17 due to the expected weather conditions.
