ISLAMABAD: French Ambassador Mr. Nocholas Galey met with Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad today to discuss issues of mutual interest, including bilateral cooperation and collaboration in trade, commerce, and socio-economic sectors.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Minister provided the French Ambassador with an update on Pakistan’s economic state, highlighting significant improvements in macroeconomic indicators over the past 14 months. He noted that the management of twin deficits, a stable currency, increasing remittances, and a rise in foreign reserves are positioning Pakistan to access the international capital market for enhanced institutional flows in the coming months.
Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized the ongoing reforms in sectors such as taxation, energy, privatization, and governance, aimed at achieving export-led growth and encouraging Foreign Direct Investment to generate exportable surplus.
French Ambassador Nocholas Galey praised the government’s reform agenda and the macroeconomic stability achieved in various economic areas. He also lauded the government’s commitment to maintaining macroeconomic stability by adhering to the structural benchmarks agreed with the IMF.
