Quetta: In a commendable effort to eradicate polio from Pakistan, a special ceremony was held today in the office of Deputy Commissioner Asta Mohammad, where four female polio workers were recognized for their exemplary service during the recent vaccination campaign. These workers were awarded cash prizes and certificates of appreciation, reflecting their dedication to safeguarding children against the polio virus under challenging conditions.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the ceremony was organized on the recommendations of Dr. Abdul Manan Lakhti, the District Health Officer, and Dr. Yasir Baloch, a representative from the World Health Organization (WHO). The event highlighted the government’s ongoing commitment to eliminate polio, with contributions from individuals across various sectors, particularly those on the front lines of this critical public health endeavor.
Deputy Commissioner Asta Mohammad Jalil Ahmed emphasized the importance of the awards, stating they serve as a motivation for other workers to emulate the dedication and commitment of the awardees. He expressed confidence that with the same level of commitment from all health workers, the eradication of polio is achievable. Dr. Abdul Manan Lockti and Dr. Yasir Baloch also participated in distributing the certificates, underscoring the collaborative efforts between the health department and international organizations like WHO in combating polio in the region.
The ceremony not only recognized the hard work and perseverance of these health workers but also aimed to inspire similar dedication among other personnel involved in Pakistan’s fight against polio, ensuring a collective effort towards a polio-free future.
