Former Pakistani and Provincial Ministers Visit Iranian Consulate to Offer Condolences

Lahore, Former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Provincial Minister of Industry and Commerce Chaudhry Shafi Hussain visited the Iranian Consulate in Lahore to offer their condolences following the tragic helicopter accident that claimed the lives of the President of Iran and his colleagues.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the former Prime Minister and the Provincial Minister met with Iranian Consul General Mehran Mowahid Far, expressing their sympathies and discussing bilateral relations. During the visit, they highlighted the long-standing social, cultural, and economic ties between Pakistan and Iran, and spoke on the need to deepen trade relations, particularly aiming to increase trade volume to 10 billion dollars.

The Consul General thanked the Pakistani leaders for their support during Iran’s time of grief and expressed a desire to strengthen commercial cooperation with Punjab, citing ongoing discussions on agriculture, solar energy, and other sectors. He also extended an invitation to Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to visit Iran, promising full support and facilities for such a visit.

The meeting also addressed the PEMCO issue, with assurances from Chaudhry Shafi Hussain that he would stand by Iran until the matter was fully resolved. The leaders’ visit reaffirmed the depth of Pakistan-Iran relations, even amidst challenging times.
