Former Indian Officials Question Pulwama Attack, Calling for Investigation

Islamabad, On the fifth anniversary of the Pulwama attack, which resulted in the death of 40 Indian Central Reserve Police Force personnel on February 14, 2019, discussions have reignited around the incident’s legitimacy and its usage as a political tool. Former Indian officials and political leaders have come forward with allegations suggesting the attack was a false flag operation, designed by elements within the Indian government to malign Pakistan and advance political agendas.

According to Kashmir Media Service, among the voices calling for a deeper investigation into the Pulwama incident is Satya Pal Malik, the former Governor of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Malik has advocated for a Supreme Court-monitored inquiry, pointing out significant inconsistencies and security oversights, such as the denial of an aircraft for troop transportation despite the unusual size of the convoy. This refusal by the Union home ministry, as highlighted by Malik, raises questions about the transparency and truth behind the tragic event.

Further evidence of possible orchestration has come from leaked messages attributed to Arnab Goswami, a journalist known for his ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). These messages imply a coordinated effort involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi among other key figures, to utilize the Pulwama attack for electoral gains, suggesting a manipulation of public sentiment.

Echoing Malik’s concerns, political leaders from various parties, including Udit Raj of the Congress, have directly accused Prime Minister Modi of orchestrating the attack to consolidate power before the parliamentary elections. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, a leader from the National Conference, has also called for investigations into both the 2016 Uri and 2019 Pulwama attacks, alleging government involvement.

These serious allegations demand a thorough and transparent investigation to unravel the truth behind the Pulwama attack, amidst claims of its use as a political weapon. The call for inquiry not only challenges the official narrative but also underscores the need for accountability and clarity in a case that has significantly impacted India-Pakistan relations and the internal political landscape of India.
