Foreign Office Criticizes India’s Rhetoric Amid Regional Tensions

Islamabad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has labeled recent statements from India as regrettable, citing their inflammatory nature during a period of heightened regional tensions. Shafqat Ali Khan, the spokesperson for the ministry, addressed the issue during a weekly media briefing, emphasizing the imprudence of such rhetoric. Khan noted that Pakistan has repeatedly advised India against engaging in provocative language.

The spokesperson reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the ceasefire announced earlier this month and highlighted steps taken by both nations aimed at de-escalation and stability. However, Khan warned that Pakistan is prepared to respond decisively if India resorts to aggressive actions.

On the matter of the Kartarpur Corridor, Khan expressed that Pakistan has kept the corridor open despite recent hostilities, but criticized India for preventing pilgrims from using the facility. Pakistan remains ready to welcome Indian pilgrims, he added.

Addressing the situation in Palestine, Khan condemned Israeli actions in Gaza, which have led to numerous Palestinian casualties and targeted infrastructure. He expressed concerns over the expansion of Israeli operations in Gaza and their implications for regional peace.

Khan called on the international community to intervene, demanding an end to Israel’s military actions and advocating for a lasting ceasefire. He reiterated Pakistan’s opposition to the displacement of Palestinians and the expansion of Israeli settlements, urging for a resolution that respects Palestinian ancestral lands.
