Foreign Minister Visits dedicated COVID-19 Vaccination Facility for Diplomats at the National Institute of Health

Islamabad, June 21, 2021 (PPI-OT): Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi visited the dedicated COVID-19 vaccination facility for diplomats at the National Institute of Health (NIH), today. Highlighting the effective Government policies and interventions, the Foreign Minister stated that Pakistan’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, based on the “whole of Government approach”, “smart lockdowns” and the maintenance of “balance between lives and livelihood” has earned Pakistan global recognition. The Foreign Minister particularly appreciated the role played by NIH, National Command Operation Centre (NCOC), and the Ministry of Health Services, Regulation and Coordination for their support to Pakistan’s Covid response.

Speaking on the occasion, the Executive Director of NIH Prof Dr Maj Gen Aamer Ikram lauded the lead role played by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pakistan’s COVID response, starting from the largest repatriation operation in the history of the country that brought back stranded Pakistanis from more than 70 countries around the world, last year. While appreciating Pakistan’s effective COVID response, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, speaking on behalf of the diplomatic community, conveyed great appreciation for the assistance provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the diplomatic missions during the ongoing pandemic. The event was attended by the Dean of the diplomatic corps, group of Ambassadors, senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NIH officials and media personnel.
