Foreign Minister urges world community to play role for peace in Afghanistan

Islamabad, June 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has urged the United Kingdom as well as the world community to play their due role in establishing peace in Afghanistan. Talking to Minister of State for South Asia and the Commonwealth Lord Tariq Ahmad in Islamabad today (Wednesday), he said the internal situation of Afghanistan has entered into a critical phase due to the withdrawal of foreign troops.

He said Pakistan considers establishment of peace in Afghanistan as essential for economic and regional stability and determined to continue its efforts for peace in the region and Afghanistan as well. The meeting also discussed the COVID situation, promotion of bilateral relations and cooperation in different sectors between Pakistan and United Kingdom.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan has great concern about the growing trend of Islamophobia in the world and the world community should work jointly to counter this menace. The Foreign Minister briefed the British Minister about the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir following the unilateral Indian measures on 5 August 2019. The visiting minister praised the role of the Pakistani community in the UK and also appreciated Pakistan’s role for bringing peace in the region.
