Foreign Minister reiterates resolve to foment ties with Tajikistan in diverse sectors

Islamabad, July 13, 2021 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has reiterated Pakistan’s resolved to enhance bilateral trade, promote regional connectivity and strengthen people-to-people linkages with Tajikistan. He expressed his resolve in meeting with his Tajikistan counterpart Sirojiddin Muhriddin, on the side-lines of the Council of Foreign Ministers meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Dushanbe.

The two Foreign Ministers reviewed the entire range of bilateral relations, with particular focus on reactivation of Joint Ministerial Commission, enhancing parliamentary linkages and early completion of CASA-1000. Foreign Minister emphasised the importance of regional connectivity; transit trade mechanisms and cooperation in the fields of education and tourism between the two countries.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated Pakistan’s consistent support for a peaceful, united, stable and prosperous Afghanistan saying that an inclusive, broad-based and comprehensive political settlement in Afghanistan is the only way forward. Later, the Tajik Foreign Minister hosted a dinner in his honour in Dushanbe. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is leading Pakistan delegation at the two-day meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization that begins in Dushanbe, Tajikistan today.
