Foreign Minister Jalil to Lead Pakistani Delegation at 22nd SCO Council of Heads of Government Meeting

Islamabad, Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani is set to spearhead the Pakistani delegation at the 22nd Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s (SCO) Council of Heads of Government, scheduled for the 26th of this month in Kyrgyzstan.

According to a news release by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Jilani’s participation comes following an invitation from the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Akylbek Japarov. The gathering will see attendance from the Heads of Government of multiple countries including China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Additionally, the Vice-President of Iran and the Foreign Ministers of both Pakistan and India will be present. Observer States like Belarus and Mongolia, along with the Guest State Turkmenistan, are also on the attendee list.

The Council of Heads of Government stands as the second most paramount forum within the SCO, with a primary focus on matters related to economy, finance, commerce, and socio-economic cooperation. Notably, Pakistan is set to assume the Chair of the SCO Council of Heads of Government during this meeting. Minister Jilani is also expected to engage in bilateral discussions on the periphery of the main event.
