Foreign Minister felicitates OIC member states for holding extraordinary session of OIC-CFM to help Afghanistan

Islamabad, January 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has expressed gratitude to OIC member states for creating a favourable environment at the 17th extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers to help Afghanistan.

Addressing a ceremony of distributing honorary shields among the OIC countries’ ambassadors in Islamabad today [Thursday], he also thanked representatives of P5 countries for participating in the conference. The Minister said the role of OIC Secretariat during the conference remained laudable.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated Pakistan’s invitation to foreign ministers of OIC countries for 48th CFMs to be held on 22nd and 23rd of March this year. He appreciated Special Representative to Prime Minister on Religious Harmony, Maulana Tahir Ashrafi for his tireless efforts in arranging a shield distribution ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser lauded Foreign Minister Shah Mahood Qureshi and Ministry of Foreign Affairs for holding a successful 17th extraordinary session of CFMs. He said a parliamentary committee has been formed to monitor evolving situation in Afghanistan. The Speaker called for taking joint action to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Later, shields were awarded among the ambassadors and representative of OIC countries. Meanwhile, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation has called for enhanced Islamic solidarity in humanitarian aid for disaster and conflict-hit populations in the Muslim World.
