Forceful protests against another death in police custody in IIOJK

Srinagar, January 15, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the death of another innocent youth in the custody of Indian police has triggered anti-India protest demonstrations in Rajouri district. The incident took place in Kalakot area of the district, last night. Officials have confirmed that a young man died under suspicious condition at Bakhar Police Post in Solki area under Dharamsal Police Station in the district.

The family members and villagers of the youth kept the dead body in the middle of the road at Solki and blocked the road for about six hours against the custodial death. The protesters demanded an action against the jail authorities. There were serious torture marks over the entire body of the slain youth. Relatives of youth namely Sher Singh, son of Chatar Singh, resident of Duggal Halal, said that the deceased worked in a shop at Sunderbani. On Friday, he was coming home from Sunderbani and reached Siot. He called his brother and told him to pick him up as he was not getting any vehicle for home.

His brother reached the spot but did not find him there. Locals told him that his brother was caught by the police at Bakhar Naka. When the brother of the deceased youth contacted the police at naka, he was told that his brother was injured and was being treated at a Sunderbani hospital. The police later packed the dead body in a plastic cover, and handed it over to his brother. When the brother saw his face, he found that his brother was dead. The gruesome murder prompted the family members and relatives to assemble at Solki and staged protests against the administration. The protests raised slogans against the occupations authorities, saying that the youth was beaten to death in police custody.

After about 6 hours of demonstration, ADC Kalakot and SDPO Nowshera reached the spot and assured the protesters of fair investigation. And after this assurance, the relatives took the dead body to the hometown for the last rites.
