Food Department Conducts Major Quality Checks on Flour across Punjab

Lahore, Following directives from Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin, the Food Department has launched a significant crackdown on the quality of flour throughout Punjab. Officials conducted inspections at 561 locations, collecting samples to ensure compliance with quality standards.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the crackdown led to fines totaling 785,000 imposed on vendors selling substandard flour and the issuance of warning notices to 121 individuals. The minister emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards, with particular focus on moisture content, gluten levels, and the absence of defective ingredients. Actions were taken against vendors failing to meet the stipulated standards, with directives to initiate legal proceedings if necessary.

Minister Yasin expressed a zero tolerance policy towards quality reduction and underscored the government’s priority to provide affordable and high-quality flour. He directed food department officials to remain vigilant in the field and closely monitor the quality of wheat and flour across the province.
