Islamabad, August 18, 2021 (PPI-OT): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to continue to play its conciliatory role for promotion of peace in the region. Addressing a ceremony in Multan, he said some forces want to disrupt peace in the region but we have to foil the nefarious designs of such forces. The Foreign Minister said Pakistan wants lasting peace, stability and development in the region.
He said it is the responsibility of all regional countries, especially the Afghan leaders, to work together for durable peace in the region. He said if there is peace in Afghanistan then there will be peace in Pakistan and in the region as a whole.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi stressed the need of unity among Muslim Ummah in the current global scenario. He said due to current circumstances in Afghanistan, the ongoing month of Muharram is very sensitive in terms of national security, as mischievous elements can try to disrupt peace in the country.
