United Nations, September 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, presented a dossier to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in New York containing details of the gross, systematic and widespread human rights violations by India in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi presented this dossier to the UN Secretary General during a meeting in New York on the sidelines of the ongoing session of the United Nations General Assembly. The meeting took place at the UN headquarters in New York, said the press release issued by the Pakistan Mission to the UN.
During the meeting, Shah Mehmood Qureshi held wide-ranging talks with UN chief that focused on the decades-old Kashmir dispute and the evolving situation in Afghanistan. Apprising the UN chief of the dire situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the foreign minister said the unilateral Indian measures taken in the disputed territory were a threat to regional and international peace and security. India, he said, was busy in changing the demographics of Kashmir, ignoring UN Security Council resolutions and international law.
The foreign minister urged the UN Secretary General to play role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions, the withdrawal of illegal and unilateral measures taken by Modi government regarding IIOJK on August 5, 2019, and the right of Kashmiris to their legitimate rights. He also called for pressurizing India to give the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination.
