Dera Ghazi Khan: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood alert for the Dera Ghazi Khan Division, warning of medium-level flash flooding expected in the hill torrents within the next 17 hours, spanning from the afternoon of August 12 to the morning of August 13, 2024.
According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority announcement issued on 12 August 2024, the anticipated flooding is due to heavy rainfall that could affect various areas within the division. The PDMA has outlined several measures for district administrations to ensure preparedness and safety. These include ensuring effective coordination and response, maintaining active communication with relevant departments, activating early warning systems, and ensuring the dissemination of safety information through electronic and social media.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow updates from local authorities.
