Five residential houses gutted in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, at least five residential houses were destroyed in a fire incident in Srinagar city. The fire started in one of the residential houses and quickly spread to the other four houses in Mir Behri area of the city.

Locals hurried to the scene when the fire broke out to put out the flames, but owing to a lack of resources, they were unable to contain the raging flames. The fires quickly spread, destroying five structures and displacing over a dozen residents.

According to residents, the fire completely destroyed at least three residential houses and partially destroyed two more. “We were able to save the rest of the structures, but those that came under the fires were severely damaged,” he said.

The residents urged the administration to assist the families financially because they are unable to rebuild their homes. “These families have managed to construct a shelter for themselves, but this unfortunate incident has snatched their shelter,” one local resident said, adding that the authorities must lend a hand to them so that they could have a roof over their heads.
