First National Sports Revival Conference to Kick Off Next Month: Ahsan Iqbal

Islamabad, The newly appointed Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Professor Ahsan Iqbal, has announced that the first-ever National Sports Revival Conference will be held next month to revitalize national sports and restore the country’s sporting glory. The announcement came after a meeting chaired by the IPC Minister and attended by key stakeholders, including the Secretary IPC, Additional Secretary, Director-General of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), and others.

According to Press Information Department, the conference aims to gather the country’s top athletes, experts, and representatives from sports associations to discuss and propose reforms in the sports sector. The event will feature various thematic sessions to identify and address critical issues in the sports landscape. Participants’ suggestions will play a vital role in guiding future reforms to strengthen national sports.

The Minister also announced that the year 2025 will be celebrated as the “Revival of Sports” in Pakistan, marking a significant push toward major reforms to uplift the sports industry. To achieve this, a high-level policy board will be formed, consisting of representatives from key stakeholders and prominent athletes.

During the meeting, Professor Iqbal directed stakeholders to complete the unfinished work at the Narowal Sports Complex to host international events. Additionally, the Ministry plans to organize a National Heavyweight and Boxing Championship in Pakistan.

Recognizing Gujra’s exceptional hockey talent, the Minister emphasized the need to provide full facilities to nurture local talent. He also directed the IPC Ministry to enhance sports facilities across the country to support local athletes. This includes the construction of more squash complexes and football complexes, with a focus on Chaman and Lyari, known for their football talent.

The Minister also called for establishing a dashboard to track all sports events, detailing the roles of various Sports Associations. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of training athletes for international events and suggested engaging international coaches to secure medals in key sports competitions.

The National Sports Revival Conference represents a significant step toward reinvigorating Pakistan’s sports sector and fostering new talent across the country.
