Islamabad, September 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Deputy Speaker National Assembly Zahid Akram Durrani chaired the first meeting of Committee on Coordination and Monitoring of Relief Efforts in Flood Affected Areas by National Disaster Management Authority and other Federal Agencies and to Ensure in particular the Provision of Tents, Food Bags, Drinking Water, Mosquito Nets and Medical Supplies for the flood affected population constituted by Prime Minster of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in Parliament House today.

While stressing the need to have better coordination between federation and provincial government, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Zahid Akram Durrani said that flood relief efforts require proactive interference by Federal and Provincial governments. He also claimed that large population of KPK government was adversely affected by recent torrential rains and flash floods.

The committee members asserted that there is need to coordinate with provincial and federal government to provide Tents, Food Bags, Drinking water, Mosquito Nets and Medical Supplies for people of flood affected. The committee members said that torrential rains have badly impacted the common people in KPK. The members of coordination committee lamented over lack of basic amenities to flood affected peoples. The committee also expressed displeasure over lack of coordination with public representative.

While taking serious notice over unprofessionalism of District officers of Upper Deer, he directed to write to establishment wing regarding non-provision of NOC to NHA for opening road in upper deer. The members of coordination committee raised issues regarding non-provision of grant of BISP support. The committee directed NDMA to prioritize cases of grant to deceased due to floods and rains. It was also decided that flood affected areas be prioritized for increasing connectivity.

The committee meeting was attended by Minister Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development MNA Mr. Sajid Hussain Turi, MNA Mian Muhammad Anwar, Senator Mr. Hidayat Ur Rehman and Provincial President PPP KPK, Senior Officers of NDMA and Senior Officers of KPK Government.
