Finance Minister Vows to Achieve Sustainable Economic Growth


Islamabad: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has pledged to adhere to the government’s reform agenda aimed at fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth. Speaking to a high-level delegation from the Asian Development Bank led by Executive Director Donald Bobiash, who met with him today, the Minister emphasized ending Pakistan’s dependence on external borrowing through enduring macroeconomic stability.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, by meeting structural benchmarks, the government seeks to stabilize its economic framework permanently. Aurangzeb provided a detailed review of ongoing structural reforms and highlighted the positive shifts in key economic indicators. Notably, inflation has significantly decreased, reaching a 44-month low of 6.9 percent last month after peaking at 38 percent the previous year.



During the meeting, Donald Bobiash lauded Pakistan’s substantial reform efforts, which have aimed to stabilize the economy and pursue sustainable growth. He affirmed the Asian Development Bank’s support for Pakistan’s development objectives, including its strides toward inclusive growth, innovation, and climate action.
