Finance Minister Urges Unified Strategy to Boost IT Exports

Islamabad: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has urged stakeholders to collaborate in overcoming challenges and positioning Pakistan as a leading player in the global IT export market. Speaking at the Prime Minister’s Committee on IT Export Remittances meeting in Islamabad, he addressed concerns about the ease of financial operations for companies, asserting that there are no restrictions on money transfers in and out of the country.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Aurangzeb emphasized that currency stability has significantly contributed to increasing remittances. He highlighted the critical role of maintaining consistent and continuous policies to sustain this growth.

In a move to address key hurdles, the meeting concluded with the decision to establish two sub-working groups focused on Taxation and Banking. These groups aim to simplify remittance processes for IT exporters and freelancers.

The committee also explored the idea of incentivizing IT companies based on their performance to promote growth and competitiveness within the sector.
