Finance Minister Reviews FBR’s Revenue Performance, Urges Enhanced Tax Collection Strategies

Islamabad, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb, chaired a critical meeting at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Headquarters today, focusing on evaluating the revenue collection performance and discussing the digitalization efforts to improve efficiency.

According to Federal Board of Revenue, the Chairman FBR presented a detailed briefing on the revenue collection efforts for the fiscal year 2023-24 and outlined the measures being taken towards the digitalization of the FBR’s operations. The Finance Minister emphasized the need to devise strategies to increase the tax-to-GDP ratio and broaden the tax base, aiming to maximize revenue collection for the ongoing financial year.

The meeting also addressed various issues, including pending legal cases, where it was decided to pursue a holistic strategy for the early recovery of revenue tied up in legal battles. The presence of the Attorney General, Mr. Mansoor Usman Awan, highlighted the meeting’s importance in aligning fiscal policies and legal strategies to enhance revenue collection efforts effectively.
