Finance Minister reiterates to bring much-needed changes in public sector

Islamabad, August 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for Finance and Revenue, Shaukat Tarin has reiterated the government’s commitment to carry forward the comprehensive reform agenda for bringing much-needed changes in public sector. He expressed these views in a meeting with Adviser to the Prime Minister on Institutional Reforms and Austerity Dr. Ishrat Hussain in Islamabad, to review progress on institutional reforms in the public sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Ishrat Hussain outlined the steps taken for re-organization of federal government entities into three broad categories with a view to bring in good governance, transparency, operational sustainability and improved human resource management. He said Rules of Business have been amended to incorporate new definition of autonomous bodies and Statutory Regulatory Orders updated to clarify the powers and functions of such bodies.

Meanwhile, in a statement, the Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin welcomed the trust and confidence shown by business community in Pakistan over the economic policies of present government. He said the government has instilled a new zeal in the business community through its progressive, consistent and transparent policies.
