Finance Minister Praises UNDP’s Role in Pakistan’s Development


Islamabad: Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has commended the support provided by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Pakistan’s priority sectors, emphasizing the importance of structured projects in fostering socio-economic development.



According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussion occurred during a meeting between Aurangzeb and Dr. Samuel Rizk, the Resident Representative of UNDP in Pakistan. The meeting centered on UNDP’s ongoing initiatives and collaborations with both the public and private sectors in the country.



Dr. Rizk provided an overview of UNDP’s initiatives aimed at social development, climate resiliency, energy transition, and digital transformation, as well as improving public sector efficiency. These efforts are designed to drive sustainable development and enhance Pakistan’s resilience to climate change.



Senator Aurangzeb acknowledged the significance of these initiatives and underscored the necessity for well-structured, investable, and bankable projects. He emphasized the importance of transparent reporting and alignment with Pakistan’s development goals.



The Finance Minister reiterated the government’s dedication to inclusive and sustainable growth, focusing on challenges such as population growth, stunting, and climate change. He highlighted the 10-year Country Partnership Framework with the World Bank, which aims to build human capital and promote private sector growth.



Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration in addressing Pakistan’s critical development challenges, particularly in climate change, social development, and public sector efficiency.
