Finance Minister Meets with Rice Exporters to Discuss Sector Growth and Exports

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, met today with representatives from the Rice Exporters Associations of Pakistan (REAP) to discuss the agricultural sector’s growth, particularly in rice production, and its contribution to Pakistan’s export volume.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting, also attended by members of the Federal Board of Revenue concerning Custom and Income Tax Policy, focused on the rice sector’s strengths and proposed tax measures to enhance its competitiveness. The Finance Minister acknowledged the delegation’s contributions to achieving a record export volume of $8 billion, emphasizing agriculture’s role as a key economic driver. He underscored the importance of enhancing rice yields through quality improvements and value addition, assuring government support for the sector’s continued growth and its strengthening position in the global market.

The dialogue concluded with a mutual commitment to fostering agricultural growth and maximizing the export potential, reflecting the government’s dedication to supporting one of Pakistan’s crucial economic sectors.
