Finance Minister Leads Steering Committee on Revenue Enhancement Initiatives in Pakistan


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, presided over a key meeting of the Steering Committee for the Pakistan Raises Revenue Program (PRRP) today, focusing on measures to augment the nation’s revenue capabilities.



According to Press Information Department, the session convened key government officials including the Minister of State for Finance and Revenue, Mr. Ali Parvez Malik, along with leaders from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and heads of various ministries such as Economic Affairs Division (EAD), Planning, Development and Special Initiatives (PD and SI), and Maritime Affairs. Notable private sector representatives like Ms. Tania Airdus, CEO of Waseela, and Mr. Salman Nasir from Ayesha Spinning Mills Ltd., among others, were also in attendance.



The committee deliberated on a slew of reforms and initiatives aimed at expanding the tax base, enhancing tax compliance, and curtailing revenue losses. Innovations in tax collection processes and ensuring a fair tax distribution were pivotal in the discussions. The meeting underscored a unanimous agreement on the urgency of implementing the PRRP effectively, with continued collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure the program’s success.
