Finance Minister Discusses Ongoing Reforms and Future Plans with IMF in Islamabad

Islamabad, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has reiterated the government’s dedication to its reform agenda in discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), emphasizing plans to continue and enhance reforms to deepen engagement with the fund. The discussions began as IMF Mission Chief Nathan Porter and his team met with the minister to discuss further engagement.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting focused on the successful completion of the IMF’s Standby Arrangement (SBA) and the positive trajectory of Pakistan’s macroeconomic indicators since then. Minister Aurangzeb expressed his gratitude towards the IMF team for their support during the SBA and detailed the economic improvements observed.

The session marks the commencement of negotiations aimed at extending the scope of IMF’s support for Pakistan, with the government keen on securing backing for its expanded reform initiatives.
