Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, chaired the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting virtually, where a new Steering Committee for the wheat import mechanism was approved.
According to Press Information Department, the ECC reviewed a proposal from the National Food Security & Research Division, leading to the establishment of a Steering Committee. This committee will be chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and include various federal ministers, secretaries, and provincial chief secretaries. The committee’s task is to assess needs and devise an operational mechanism concerning the proposed wheat import and provincial demands.
The meeting saw participation from Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain, Jam Kamal Khan, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, and Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar Khan, among others. Additionally, federal secretaries and senior officials from relevant ministries and regulatory authorities were present.
