Islamabad, In a recent meeting held in Karachi, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb appealed to the banking sector to bolster the government’s development initiatives by increasing their financial support to key areas such as agriculture, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and the Information Technology (IT) sector.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting saw the attendance of the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Jameel Ahmed, along with CEOs and Presidents of several of Pakistan’s leading banks. During the session, Aurangzeb emphasized the critical role of the banking sector in fulfilling the financing needs of these priority sectors, underscoring the government’s readiness to collaborate closely with financial institutions to this end.
Furthermore, the Finance Minister called upon the Pakistan Banks’ Association to spearhead a task force. This group is to include members from the banking community, government bodies, and other relevant stakeholders, tasked with developing practical strategies to address the challenges and obstacles impeding the growth of these vital sectors.
