Islamabad: Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to maintaining macroeconomic stability and implementing structural reforms to ensure sustainable growth, despite global uncertainties and regional challenges.
According to Radio Pakistan, Aurangzeb conveyed this commitment during a meeting with a delegation from the American Business Forum, led by President Osman Khalid Waheed, in Islamabad. The Finance Minister welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of Pakistan’s improving economic outlook, detailing progress in fiscal and external sectors and engagement with international financial institutions and development partners.
During the meeting, Aurangzeb outlined government efforts to tackle energy sector challenges, strengthen supply chains, and enhance coordination across key ministries through a high-level committee under his leadership. He assured continuous monitoring of developments and engagement with stakeholders to safeguard economic stability.
The American Business Forum members commended the government’s reform agenda and proposed improvements to the business environment. Key discussion points included tax policy rationalization, export incentivization, and foreign exchange facilitation. The delegation emphasized the necessity of consistent policies to foster long-term investment.
Sector-specific issues were also addressed. Representatives from the pharmaceutical sector highlighted export potential with regulatory reforms, and participants from the IT and services sectors called for streamlined processes to support digitalization and ease of doing business.
Aurangzeb acknowledged the delegation’s input and reiterated the government’s commitment to a business-friendly environment, noting that many proposals are under consideration, with upcoming budget plans reflecting tax rationalization and regulatory reforms. The Finance Minister emphasized policy alignment with economic value considerations, focusing on exports, investment promotion, and sustainability. Both parties agreed to maintain dialogue to support economic transformation and attract foreign investment.
