Finance Minister Aurangzeb Engages with Pak Matiari-Lahore Transmission Company Executives

Islamabad: In a significant meeting today, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with key executives from the Pak Matiari-Lahore Transmission Company (PMLTC), discussing advancements in energy projects and addressing financial concerns within the sector.

According to Ministry of Finance announcement issued on 09 July 2024, Ms. Zhang Lei, President and CEO of PMLTC, along with Deputy CEO Mr. Ma Desheng and CFO Mr. Wang Bo, congratulated Senator Aurangzeb on his recent appointment and lauded the government’s ongoing reforms. Ms. Lei provided an update on the Matiari-Lahore HVDC project and explored further opportunities for hybrid renewable energy and hydrogen production in Pakistan. Issues concerning currency conversion and sales tax recovery from the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) were also discussed.

Senator Aurangzeb expressed appreciation for PMLTC’s contributions to infrastructure development and reassured the delegation of the government’s support to facilitate their operations. He emphasized the importance of completing the IMF program to enhance foreign exchange reserves and highlighted reforms in the power sector aimed at bolstering Pakistan’s energy capabilities.

The meeting ended with mutual optimism for strengthening collaboration between the government and PMLTC to propel Pakistan’s energy sector forward and drive economic growth.
