Washington: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is in Washington for a six-day visit aimed at attending the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. During his visit, Aurangzeb will engage with senior officials from various international financial institutions and meet with his counterparts from countries including China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan.
Aurangzeb’s itinerary includes discussions with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, World Bank President Ajay Banga, senior White House officials, and the Chairman of the Congressional Financial Services Committee.
He is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Middle East, North Africa, and Pakistan (MENAP) forum. Additionally, the finance minister will take part in a regional roundtable organized by the World Bank focusing on the Federal Board of Revenue’s digital transformation, where tax officials from multiple countries will present their tax reforms.
Aurangzeb will also engage with the World Economic Forum and discuss tax proposals and investment opportunities in Pakistan with the US-Pakistan Business Council.
Meetings with global credit rating agencies and commercial banks, with a focus on Middle Eastern investment banks, are planned to highlight Pakistan’s economic scenario.
The finance minister’s visit will include stops at leading US think tanks, such as the Atlantic Council and the Peterson Institute of International Economics. He will also connect with prominent members of the Pakistani diaspora in the United States.
