Finance Minister Aurangzeb Discusses Economic Progress with Meezan Bank Leaders

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, engaged in a strategic meeting today with top officials from Meezan Bank, including the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Riyadh S.A.A Edrees. The session aimed to evaluate and further financial collaborations between the government and the private sector.

According to Ministry of Finance announcement issued on 08 August 2024, the meeting also saw the presence of the President and CEO of Meezan Bank, Mr. Irfan Siddiqui, Deputy CEO Syed Amir Ali, the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), and senior Finance Ministry officials. Mr. Riyadh discussed Meezan Bank’s expansive operations as the largest bank in the Middle East, with a significant presence across Pakistan, including 1,000 branches and 17,000 employees. He commended the Pakistani government’s recent economic policies, which have positively impacted dividends and remittance flows, signaling robust economic governance.

Minister Aurangzeb highlighted the upward movement of Pakistan’s macroeconomic indicators and public confidence in the country’s economic management. He detailed ongoing reforms in State-Owned Enterprises, the Federal Board of Revenue, the energy sector, and privatization efforts, reaffirming the government’s dedication to enhancing investment conditions and the ease of doing business.

The dialogue concluded on a positive note, with both parties optimistic about Pakistan’s economic trajectory and the opportunities for deepened cooperation to foster mutual economic goals.
