Finance Minister Aurangzeb Affirms Support for Gilgit-Baltistan’s Development


Islamabad: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to bolstering the development of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), recognizing it as a cornerstone for Pakistan’s broader economic growth.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Aurangzeb chaired a pivotal meeting in Islamabad today with key officials, including the Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam, and other regional leaders. The gathering focused on tackling the critical issues faced by GB, such as funding shortfalls and delays in public sector projects, which have impeded local government operations and development initiatives.



The Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan detailed the challenges and put forth several strategic proposals aimed at enhancing the region’s infrastructure. These include the adoption of solar power solutions to meet increasing energy demands, digitization of land records, and airport expansions to boost tourism. Appreciating these initiatives, Minister Aurangzeb highlighted the need for comprehensive administrative and fiscal reforms to ensure the welfare of the local population and to stimulate economic activities through tourism.
