Finance Minister Advocates for Strategic Designation of National Disaster Risk Management Fund


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, presided over the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises’ meeting today at the Finance Division, focusing on strategic enhancements for state-managed entities.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting’s agenda included a significant proposal from the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives to classify the National Disaster Risk Management Fund as a strategic State-Owned Enterprise. This non-profit organization, dedicated to bolstering resilience against natural disasters, was recommended for categorization under the 2023 State-Owned Enterprises (Ownership and Management) Policy’s Paragraph 9. The Cabinet Committee affirmed this proposal, marking the fund as an essential entity.



Further deliberations led to the approval of two additional proposals from the Industries and Production Division regarding key appointments. These appointments were for the Board of Directors of the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation and the Pakistan Steel Fabricating Company Limited, aiming to strengthen leadership and oversight within these important industrial bodies.
