Karachi, The process of filing nomination papers for Pakistan’s next general elections is set to conclude tomorrow. This marks a critical phase in the election timeline, leading up to the polling scheduled for 8th February. The Election Commission of Pakistan has extended the deadline for filing nominations, responding to requests from political parties and to assist candidates.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the revised election schedule issued by the Commission outlines key dates following the closure of the nomination process. The scrutiny of nomination papers will occur from Monday until the 30th of this month. The period for filing appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers is set until the 3rd of next month, with decisions on these appeals expected by the 10th of January.
The Election Commission will publish a revised list of candidates on the 11th of January. Candidates will have the opportunity to withdraw their nomination papers by the 12th of January. Following this, electoral symbols will be allotted to the remaining candidates on the 13th of January.
These steps are part of the comprehensive preparations for the general elections, ensuring a systematic and transparent electoral process leading up to the polling day on the 8th of February.
