Islamabad: Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, has directed Pakistan Post to implement a realistic restructuring plan within three months to eliminate financial losses, as he chaired a high-level review of the organization. Emphasizing the need for modernization and private sector involvement, the minister warned that financial self-sufficiency is necessary to avoid potential privatization.

According to Press Information Department, during the visit to the Directorate General of Pakistan Post, Minister Khan emphasized the importance of comprehensive reforms and the development of a three-year business strategy aimed at achieving economic independence. He highlighted the necessity for Pakistan Post to adapt to changing market demands and instructed the newly appointed Director General to present a clear reform roadmap. The minister also underscored the role of the organization’s 20,000 employees in ensuring its future viability and competitiveness. Warning of the potential consequences of continued financial losses, he noted that failure to achieve financial independence could lead the government to consider privatization. A follow-up meeting is scheduled in one week to assess the progress of the initial reform measures.
