Federal Minister Unveils Ambitious Plans for Pakistan’s Maritime Sector


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has announced a comprehensive plan to modernize and expand Pakistan’s maritime sector, emphasizing its critical role in boosting the national economy and positioning the country as a global maritime hub.



According to Press Information Department, Chaudhry, upon assuming charge of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, highlighted his vision for institutional development and operational efficiency across key maritime organizations, including the Karachi Port Trust, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, Port Qasim Authority, and Gwadar Port Authority. He stressed the importance of upgrading ports to contemporary standards and fostering international partnerships to enhance Pakistan’s role in regional and global trade.



The minister emphasized transparency and accountability as guiding principles for governance, pledging merit-based policies and performance-driven strategies. He outlined plans to integrate advanced technology to bolster operational efficiency and reaffirmed his zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. Chaudhry underscored the sector’s significance in national development, aiming to transform Pakistan’s ports into major trade centers in South Asia and beyond.
