Islamabad: A pivotal agreement was signed today between the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), aimed at equipping Pakistani youth with specialized skills in chip design and manufacturing. This initiative, endorsed by the Federal Minister for Education, is part of a broader effort to prepare the workforce for significant technological advancements expected globally in the coming decades.
According to Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, the joint venture aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of leveraging the demographic dividend of Pakistan’s young population for economic advancement. The training program, split into two five-month cohorts, focuses on high-demand technological skills crucial for both local and international markets.
The signing ceremony featured key figures including Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the Federal Minister for Education, who highlighted the critical role of technological training in utilizing the potential of the youth. He expressed his satisfaction with the strategic partnership, emphasizing its significance in preparing the youth for future challenges.
Mr. Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Federal Secretary, also praised the initiative, expressing anticipation for its successful implementation and potential expansion. Mr. Aamir Jan, Executive Director of NAVTTC, outlined the commission’s commitment to adapting to technological changes and providing advanced training. He noted the initiative’s expected high return on investment and its contribution to enhancing employability on an international scale.
Rector NUST, Engr. Javed Mahmood Bukhari, discussed the collaboration’s importance in aligning Pakistan’s educational efforts with global technological shifts. The event concluded with a presentation by Mr. Jan to the Federal Minister, showcasing various NAVTTC programs and initiatives aimed at modernizing Pakistan’s education and training landscape.
