Lahore: The Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, visited Mayo Hospital in Lahore to review the financial assistance and facilities provided by Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), an affiliated department of the Ministry. During his visit, the minister focused on ensuring transparency and the timely provision of support to patients in need.

According to Press Information Department, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal has disbursed Rs. 685.8 million for the treatment of 3,035 patients at Mayo Hospital from 2021 to 2026. In the financial year 2024-25 alone, Rs. 321.4 million were allocated for 1,180 patients. So far in the current financial year, Rs. 106.6 million have been provided for the treatment of 535 patients. Additionally, Rs. 190 million were specifically allocated last year for cancer patients at the hospital.

During his visit, the Federal Minister emphasized the importance of efficient and transparent systems for delivering financial assistance. He highlighted his previous visits to major hospitals such as PIMS, NORI, NIRM, and NISHTAR Hospital, where he directed the establishment of PBM facilitation desks to enhance service accessibility for patients.

The minister reiterated that the financial assistance from Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal is a government-funded welfare support mechanism, distinguishing it from Zakat, and underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring timely and transparent aid delivery to those in need.
