Federal Minister Muqam Meets with NGOs to Boost Support for Afghan Refugees


Islamabad: Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions, Engr Amir Muqam, convened a meeting with representatives from various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) dedicated to supporting Afghan refugees in Pakistan, aiming to enhance collaboration and effectiveness in refugee assistance programs.



According to Press Information Department, Minister Muqam emphasized the need for coordinated efforts between the ministry and NGOs to maximize the impact of their work. He highlighted the priority to assist as many people as possible and urged NGOs to adapt to current needs and focus on the effective implementation of their projects.



The meeting, which included senior officials such as Zafar Hassan, Secretary of States and Frontier Regions, and Abbas Khan, Chief Commissioner for Afghan Refugees, served as a platform for NGOs to discuss their ongoing initiatives. These initiatives cover a broad range of services including livelihood improvement, vocational training, income generation activities, gender-based violence support, water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), psychosocial support, education, and health for Afghan refugees.



Minister Muqam recognized the critical role that NGOs play in both national development and humanitarian response in Pakistan, appreciating the detailed briefings provided by the representatives. He reassured the NGOs of the ministry’s commitment to providing all necessary assistance and coordination to further their efforts in addressing the challenges faced by Afghan refugees.
