Federal Minister Mourns the Loss of Syed Arif Jafri, Renowned Flute Player


Islamabad: Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Syed Arif Jafri, former Director of Performing Arts at the National Art Council. Jafri was a leading figure in the promotion of music in Pakistan and an esteemed flute player.



In a formal statement, the Minister highlighted Jafri’s significant role in advancing musical arts within the country. He noted that Jafri, who received advanced music education abroad, devoted his life to fostering musical talent.



Khichi emphasized that Jafri’s contributions to fine arts would be long remembered and stated that his death is a substantial loss to Pakistan’s performing arts community. The Ministry of National Heritage and Culture paid tribute to Jafri’s lifelong dedication to the arts.



Beyond his musical achievements, Jafri was also a respected author, particularly known for his book “Asian Music.”



The funeral for Syed Arif Jafri is scheduled to take place today at 7:00 p.m. at H-11 Graveyard, Islamabad.
