Federal Minister Leads Rally in Islamabad to Honor Kashmir Black Day, Calls on UN for Action


Islamabad: In a significant demonstration on Kashmir Black Day, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit Baltistan and SAFRON Engineer Amir Maqam led a large rally in the capital city. The event, attended by political leaders and citizens, emphasized Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and highlighted the need for international attention to their plight.



According to Press Information Department, during the rally at D Chowk, Minister Maqam addressed the attendees, recounting the historical context of October 27, 1947, when Indian forces entered Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated the continued struggle for self-determination by the Kashmiri people, acknowledging the sacrifices made over the decades. Minister Maqam called on the United Nations to act on its resolutions regarding Kashmir, to allow for self-determination in the region. He criticized recent elections in the area as reflective of the real sentiment against Indian rule, and commended Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for advocating for Kashmir and Palestine at the recent UN General Assembly.



Other speakers at the rally included Chairman Kashmir Committee, Rana Qasim Noon, who appealed to global institutions to respect and enforce UN resolutions and initiate dialogue with the Kashmiri people. Zamurd Khan, former National Assembly member and head of Pakistan Sweet Home, also spoke, emphasizing the enduring support of Pakistan for the Kashmiri struggle.



The rally underscored the broader national support for Kashmir, with numerous political figures and citizens echoing the call for international intervention and resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations directives.
